IWC presents a new generation of Ingenieur Ingenieur watches at Watches & Wonders Geneva 2023, designed by Gérald Genta, returning to replicate the classic Ref. 1832 designed by Gérald Genta in the 1970s.

The 40 mm case combines vertical brushing, circular brushing and mirror-polishing, with carefully reconstructed lines for a softer and more fluid silhouette. Thickness: 10.7 mm.

The bezel is secured by five screws, while the lug details and the H-shaped bracelet feature a new, more ergonomic design for a more comfortable fit on the wrist.

The most unusual feature of this new model is the dial’s reproduction of the ‘grid’ pattern used on the original Ingenieur SL, which was created by stamping an intaglio pattern into the iron dial base and then galvanising it. The pattern is made up of thin lines running perpendicular to each other, embossed on a soft iron blank and then galvanised. The pattern covers the entire inner area of the dial, while the outer area of the dial around the minute markers remains smooth, and the proportions of the IWC logo and its position on the dial have been carefully adjusted to ensure that it is tightly aligned with the ‘grid’ pattern. The hour-markers coated with luminescent material ensure that they remain legible at night.

The dial is laid out in a large three-hand layout, with hour and seconds hands that also return to the 1970s, a date window at 3 o’clock and the ‘INGENIEUR’ logo at 6 o’clock.

The new original steel belt is moulded, all structures are synchronous with the original, and its material, workmanship and wearing feeling are 100% synchronous with the original.
